Birth Story
Monday March 4. I went to the doctor. I was at 3.5cm and 90% effaced my doctor told me to go home and start self inducing. So that night my sister and I took a long walk and sure enough I was contracting irregularly from 7pm until 1am. My mom came up from Phoenix to help me and to be there when he was born. So at 1 she told me to go to bed relax and we will get a fresh start in the morning. At about 2am I started leaking fluid. at 3am I woke up my underwear were soaking wet but I wasn't contracting so I went back to bed. We woke up at 8 my husband and I did the "dirty" and then he went to work and my mom and I got ready for our day of induction. We went and got coffee and then walked for a mile. she made me run a bit too. Nothing was really happening. So I had another doctors appointment at 11:30. So we went back to my house to eat and so she could take a shower. I started contracting as soon as I got home. So from going into preterm labor the week prior from eating Pineapples I ate some more to see if it would help sure enough at 10 I was contracting harder. A lot harder, I was on my knees and getting cold sweats. They were every 4-7 minutes and lasting up to 45sec. At 11 my water broke...So my mom called my doctor and they told us to head to Labor and Delivery! We got there at noon and my husband showed up soon there after. In triage they checked me. My water had broke I was at 4cm and 95% effaced. They got my back within a half hour. Got me and IV for the GBS and then let me walk. I walked for about 2 hours and then stopped progressing so the doctor made me get Pitocin. I had to wait an hour and a half so they could keep mine and Chayse's heart rate on monitor and then she let me sit on the birthing ball. After about an hour of no progression I asked the nurse to check me and see how my cervix was. She said I was still at 95% but had gotten to 5cm and then she realized I had another water sack. She tried to pop it but she couldn't so she called the doctor. He was finishing up with another delivery so it was an hour before he came in. So finally at 6:30pm the doctor came in popped my water and by the next contraction I was in transition. 10 minutes later I was screaming wanting to push but I wasn't aloud she checked me and I was at a 7 she told me to not push. So I stayed curled up in a ball in the corner of my bed with a wash cloth and my oxygen mask while my husband held my hand and my mom rubbed my back and just cried. By 7pm I was bawling my eyes out needing to push and yelling at the nurse to let me. She checked me and sure enough I was at a 10 and she told me I could push. I instantly flipped over and sat up and the next contraction started pushing. She grabbed the doctor. By the second push he was crowning but I wasn't tearing and his head was to big. So the doctor tried to tear me. The third push I stopped in the middle and he went back in. Push number 4 He crowned doctor cut me, I screamed. Push number 5 doctor cut me again he came out I rested for a second as they suctioned him. Push 6 he was out. They put him on top of me and I didn't know what to do I was in so much shock that I had just given birth to him. That I just looked at him until they pulled him away. The doctor then numbed me and stitched me up. It was amazing watching MY son be born , watching him come out, feeling the pain of labor and knowing that I had just created life. He was born at 36 weeks 5 days and he was 5lbs 7oz 17inch long. We were in the hospital for less then 48 hours.
